OUR BACKUP SOFTWARE
Backup software: Ransomware protection
The best protection against a ransomware attack is a backup.
Backups that are located somewhere on a local computer or your network will most likely not survive a ransomware attack.
If you have a backup system where you can find or access your backup files through Windows explorer, than this backup will probably be useless when it comes to a ransomware attack.
The old fashioned tapedrive backup is a safe backup system. The files can only be accessed using your special backup software.
Backupping files online is probably reasonable safe (if the ransomware virus detects your login credentials, they could use a keylogger for this, than it is not safe).
Our backup software: Ransomware protection, which will become available around Q2/Q3 of 2022, and which will be free (just as Honey jar trap) will provide you with a backup solution that should withstand any ransomware attack.
Because all backup files are stored locally on either your PC or your network you will only need adittional harddisk space. This is far cheaper than using a limited tape backup system or an online backup system.
As we just stated that backup systems that store backups locally which can be accessed by Windows explorer are not safe, how can it be that this backup software: Ransomware protection, is safe.
Our backup software is safe because the backup files cannot be accessed using Windows explorer. We have created a way that we can store files on your local harddrive or network that windows doesn’t know about. And since it doesn’t know about these files, the files cannot be accessed by you or any ransomware virus. Of course the backup files can be restored using the backup software itself.
Our backup software: Ransomware protection however has a second protection layer that the user can activate. When activated all content is not only where Windows expects this (if the first layer would be overcome) but somewhere else as well. This will double the file size, but it will be very difficult to render this backup file useless.
So even if a ransomware virus manages to bypass our first security level, than it might think that it has encrypted your data, but our backup softwware: Ransomware protection will than still be able to restore your files.
Our description of how our backup software: Ransomware protection operates is a bit foggy. And of course we would like to boast how good we are and what we were able to do. But when we explain to you what it exactly is what we do, than we inadvertenly also let the ransomware pirates know what we do and that would make it easier for them to defeat our security layers.
The fight between ransomware pirates and the protection software is always a game of cat and mice. Whenever either one makes a step the other one will react. So in the future we might even have more protection layers. But for as long as we are the underdog and most people don’t know about us. It will be extremely powerfull against ransomware attacks, as the ransomware pirates simply do not expect such a defence.
As soon as our backup software is available, we will place a link here to the corresponding website.
